Okay, a little frustration sets in and with each rotation of your tires your mph decreases...the stage has been set for a small case of road rage. You've been waiting now for 20 minutes, with no clear reason why. You are far enough away from the construction site that you can't see the cause and then you finally spot it...the inevitable sign:
What does this mean. For me, it means amplified frustration. Why? Because I am a rule follower. When I see an arrow that tells me to move right, I move right. Unfortunately it seems like 75% of drivers see the arrow and think, "I can go a mile more in this lane and then get in front of everyone that has been waiting patiently at the last possible second." With each car that zooms by to the left my aggravation skyrockets. They are the reason we have been waiting in this line for 30 minutes. They are the hold-up, not the construction.

And Then....(Handel's theme from the Messiah playing as you read)

a semi-truck drives up and straddles both lanes. That's right. He's had enough. He's doing what we all were thinking. Thank you truckers. What you did was a beautiful, beautiful thing. Let the road rage shift over a lane :)
Name a time someone elses action made you want to give a serious high-five.John Styleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04536187887560487674noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5584175045847340560.post-53251773849598925002011-06-04T19:33:00.000-07:002011-06-04T19:52:19.795-07:00The Rockstar of Herbs

Okay... okay before I get going I know how some of you feel. You hate it. It's overpowering. You can't get away from its taste....but I can't help but to love it. Did you know it's been recorded that this herb was in the hanging gardens of Babylon? That is one serious herb. It is a great source of vitamin K and A and in Arabian Nights it's referred to as an aphrodisiac.

Beyond that and to the real deal. I think I may be addicted to it. I love its piquant flavor (piquant is a new word for me: having an agreeably pungent taste) and its ability to enhance any dish. Do you love fresh salsa? I bet it's because of this beautiful thing. Cilantro.

Love it or hate it, can you describe it with one word? Try.
John Styleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04536187887560487674noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5584175045847340560.post-89214288370649961542011-06-01T09:13:00.000-07:002011-06-01T15:59:14.143-07:00My Blog's RootsI love beautiful things.

Merriam-Webster defines beauty as: The quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.

Some things I find beautiful:
*Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto
*The smell and taste of homemade rolls
*Van Gogh's Roses and Anemones
*Givenchy's Hot Couture perfume
*My daughter's hearty laugh

*A photo I took of a moment in Venice

Each post will feature something I find beautiful.
